Pennine Community Credit Union’s Jodie joins CU Futures 12 month programme.
CU Futures is the innovative programme run in partnership by ABCUL and the Credit Union Foundation and sponsored by Citi Foundation to support and develop young people across the British credit union movement.
The Association of British Credit Union outlined the main aims of the programme
CU Futures aims to attract and retain talent within the credit union movement, and to educate and strengthen the sector by providing the necessary tools and resources to develop strong leadership.
Jodie joined the 13 new candidates in Manchester and spent two days getting to know them, learning more about the programme ahead of them and hearing presentations from senior members of the ABCUL staff team about key credit union sector issues and the Association’s work.
Jodie has been part of the team at PCCU for two years, in which she has developed knowledge and skills in two important areas, firstly dealing with account holders within branch and now within the credit control team. Both roles are integral to the smooth running of the credit union
I started working for PCCU in 2015 as a Member Services Officer. I have since progressed on to the Credit Control team which involves monitoring the weekly arrears and taking appropriate action when necessary, which interests me immensely.
Jodie explained her motivation for working within the credit union movement and what she hoped to gain from the CU Futures course
My main passion is the ethics which the credit union follows and being able to help people in the community who are experiencing financial difficulties. I strongly believe in the co-operative values and want to progress my skills and knowledge to ensure my credit union will continue to provide our services to our community in the future.
Last year Chief Operating Officer Deborah completed the 12 month CU Futures course and Kathryn PCCU’s Chief Executive Officer is passionate that our staff participating in the programme will benefit our credit union in the long term
As a credit union we support Jodie joining the CU Futures programme. We will offer her as much support as she requires because we believe it will not only develop her skills and knowledge of the movement, but will also mean that PCCU will benefit from the most up to date practices in the financial sector that we operate in.
All the team at PCCU wish Jodie good luck.
