We are absolutely thrilled that Deborah Smith-Hands has been awarded the ABCUL Tracy Slane award. It is fully deserved
Saturday also saw Deborah graduate from the 12 month CU Futures programme. Launched in partnership with The Credit Union Foundation and Citi Foundation, CU Futures is a 12 month development programme, including an industry standard qualification accredited by the Institute of Financial Services University College, to give meaningful development support to future credit union managers, directors and leaders. CU Futures aims to attract and retain talent within the credit union movement, and to educate and strengthen the sector by providing the necessary tools and resources to develop strong leadership.

The CU Futures course was a fantastic experience; I was able to attend various different Credit Union events, including a trip to the World Council of Credit Unions conference in Belfast.
During the 12 month course we received extensive training from finance, to media and communications but also went back to basics, learning about the founders of our Credit Union Movement. I have developed many new skills and I am looking forward to putting these into practice at PCCU.
The weekend of the graduation was already a very proud moment for us all but to then be chosen to receive the Tracy Slane award was an incredible honour! I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities I have been given. Thank you to PCCU for making it all possible.
As the Chief Operating Officer Deborah’s role includes assisting the CEO in the responsibility for the effective and efficient running of all operations within the three branches that PCCU operate in the community, as well as the online accounts facilities that the credit union provide. The CU Futures programme will enable Deborah to continue to improve the quality of the savings and loan accounts that the Credit Union currently offer to the residents of the Pennine area.
Congratulations Deborah from everyone at PCCU.
