PCCU is planning to reopen the three town centre branches in Nelson, Burnley and Colne on Tuesday 26th May 2020 at 12:00pm.
On Monday 23rd March 2020 we took the difficult decision to close all three branches due to the coronavirus outbreak. We understood then that many people in our community relied on the services that the credit union provides. We hope we kept our promise to offer as close to a full service as possible via online and telephone channels.
We have been working on plans to reopen the branches to account holders, listening to the government’s advice, whilst taking in the views of both staff and account holders. On the 18th March the government identified that financial services such as credit union staff were essential workers and this has allowed PCCU staff to continue to keep the majority of the services operating.
Similar to other essential businesses, such as the supermarkets, we will implement a range of measure to help with social distancing. We aim to restrict the number of account holders at the cashier counters to one person at any one time, will have signage to support the 2m social distancing advice and there will be limited staff at the counters. We anticipated this may cause some disturbance when visiting a branch but hope account holders understand we are doing this with your, the community and staff member’s best interest.
Staying Covid-19 Secure in 2020- As of before the lockdown our branches will accept cash deposits but would prefer account holders to deposit via bank transfer or card payment
- Our staff will not be conducting loan applications in the interview rooms until further notice, we will advise on how to complete loan applications in branch. The online channels, and Nivo app, are available 24/7 for loan applications
- The branches will open Monday-Friday, on Saturday 13th June 2020 we will reopen the Nelson branch 9:30-12pm. The other two branches will remain closed on Saturdays until further notice
As a responsible organisation, who only operate to benefit the community, we will be monitoring the health of our staff and we appreciate that account holders will not enter the branches if they are unwell.
The last few weeks have been very difficult for all of us and we hope you, your friends and families are staying safe during these testing times. We are grateful that account holders have been very patient, and like staff have adapted to using the telephone, online accounts area and secure Nivo app. Many account holders have indicated that interacting with their accounts online has been a positive experience and will continue to do so, however re-opening the PCCU branches is an action, not taken lightly, to support those who cannot use the digital platforms.
Slowly, but safely we will return to operating as normal, we would like to recognise the dedication of the PCCU staff who have worked extremely hard to keep the credit union going through the coronavirus outbreak.
We will keep account holders updated via the coronavirus page on our website, branch signage, email communication and social media networks. However if you have a question please contact a member of staff who will be happy to help.
Thank you
