What is PCCU?
Pendle Community Credit Union is a non-profit making self help financial co-operative, run by experienced volunteers, serving its members in the whole of the Pendle Borough, with savings and loans facilities.
On April 23rd 1982, a Saver Group was launched with just 15 members and the first collection produced a total of £75.00 in share savings. We registered as Nelson Community Credit Union on August 31st in the same year.
Having enjoyed success after success it was agreed that the benefits of NCCU should be available to the whole of Pendle as of October 2005 making it into Pendle Community Credit Union. Now well over 2,500 members have collective savings of over £1 million and since its creation has lent out over £10 million! Presently PCCU can boast of having over 70 volunteers.
Throughout our history we have an outstanding record of serving and helping our members to provide a better future not just for themselves, but their families, their children and their grand-children.
PCCU is a real life story of ordinary people teaming up and working together in our community for the common good.
Pendle Community Credit Union helps people's finances be removed from the commercial arena, where profit is the name of the game, back into the community where YOU are the owner and beneficiary.
Just think about it - no more rip offs.
So why is PCCU so successful?
Our savings and loan facilities are sited in convenient locations. Our head office collection point is at St John Southworth's Parish Centre, with a secondary central Nelson office serving all our members at Christ Church in Nelson. Other local sections of the community are served across Pendle at places such as Brierfield Youth Centre, Colne Co-Op, Holy Saviours Annexe.

For further ease and peace of mind members can pay via Standing Order, Transcash at Post Offices, payroll deduction and much more.
Our savers benefit and help others
Our collective savings provide the means of granting loans to members, when necessary. As we are non-profit making with a team of over 70 volunteers our expenses are low. After paying expenses and providing for reserves, the surpluses are returned to members in the form of DIVIDENDS. To put it simply-money left over at the end of each year goes back to our members.
We are very proud of our Credit Union for it represents people helping people in their own community to build a better future together.
